•  Tennessee Titans  head coach Jeff Fisher has been named co-chairman of the NFL competition committee.

CONTRACT EXTENSIONS

•  Chicago Bears  DC Greg Blanche has agreed to a 3/yr. contract extension.

•  Prairie View A&M  extended coach Larry Dorsey contract thru the 2005 season.

•  Cincinnati has extended the contract of Head Coach Rick Minter through the 2005 season.  Minter's record as the Bearcat coach is 41-49-1.

•  West Virginia Head Coach Rich Rodriguez has received a one-year contract extension as Mountaneer coach.  The deal will go through the 2006 season.

•  Georgia Head Coach Mark Richt has signed a one-year contract extension through the 2006 season.

2002 GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS

• Kickoff Classic date changed:  Because of a Notre Dame scheduling conflict the 2002 Kickoff Classic will be held on August 31st in East Rutherford, NJ.  The final Kickoff game will feature the Fighting Irish and the Maryland Terrapins .

• Pigskin Classic teams announced:  The final Pigskin Classic will match the Buckeyes from  Ohio State and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.  The game will be played at Ohio Stadium on August 24th.  This will be the final Pigskin because the NCAA has eliminated preseason football games.
